Fortunately, she has three close friends for support--Marnie (Allison Williams), Jessa (Jemima Kirke), and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet)--in this intimate and often-comical look at friendship, relationships and self-discovery.

This show is evidence of the decay in social notions of acceptable entertainment. The celebration of failed emotional development as normal.

Though I thought this show might be stupid and vapid, it's not. I am surprised by how much I love the show, the dialogue, the writing, and the quirky characters. I love how Hannah (Lena Dunham) runs around half naked/naked all the time with her imperfect body, flaunting it. That's the point. Her body is that of a real person, not an airbrushed, half starved anorexic. Hannah is brilliant and flawed, irritating and lovable, beautiful and unattractive, all at once. And Adam (Driver) is one of the best young actors I've ever seen. This is not your standard sitcom. If you don't want to think, don't watch it.

Why would I want to watch a show with unattractive, boring people? The answer is.. I don't. The characters are sad and pathetic, everyman or woman, the least common denominator of a relatively privileged class. The show is trying to be cutting edge in it's dullness.

I have plenty of problems with this show, but my main problem with it is the depreciation of love, the cheapening of sexuality and in that case, humanity. There is, from the writing, nothing sacred, as long as it appears to push the envelope. The humans she writes about are perhaps the most lewd, self serving, and base creatures... Sometimes appearing to almost be without any semblance of humanity besides their physical shape and ability to walk upright. Edge? Yes! Shocking? Yes! But for all the wrong reasons. It's out of touch with the reality.

So good. Just delicious entertainment, intriguing relationships. This is one of the shows we'll cite when we refer to the 2010's as the golden age of television.

HBO did it again! It's my generations' Sex and the City. Well written, well cast, and well directed. Lena Dunham is the voice of young woman everywhere. Great show, truly inspiring.
