I Am Cait, Season 1

Great show, I realize now how little exposure I have to the transgender community and their struggle for equal rights in our country. Appreciate the candor and hope to see greater depth in the discussion of seeing people beyond the exterior. "You can never hate someone, whose story you know"

I do not like this show. It is not because Caitlyn is trans. It is not because she once had relations with the Kardashian family. It is just because it's not a very good show. The concept is fine, at best- following Caitlyn Jenner, a trans woman with celebrity status, around in her everyday life. It seems a bit mundane, and it does get a bit mundane after a while. I am glad to see a transgender individual finally getting some mainstream coverage, but I feel there are better choices other than Caitlyn. For example, perhaps a special covering Leelah Alcorn- a transgender girl who commited suicide after not being accepted by her mother. Though, due to the lack of insight from Leelah herself, that would only be a good premise for an episode or two. Or possibly a series on Laverne Cox- an actress in the popular series Orange is the New Black. I don't know, but those are just some thoughts. I do not dislike I Am Cait because of the star. I dislike it because many other transgender individuals are much more qualified to have their own show.

As an advocate and transperson I had so many hopes for this show to be a wonderful, safe educational window to humanize the trans experience and combat negative stereotypes. I was disappointed to find it largely reinforced stereotypes and found someone who killed people negligently with her SUV to be a poor spokesperson -- there are FAR better (ie Janet Mock, Jamison Green, the list goes on and on and on...but we get this). Cait is only one face of the Trans community, and does not speak for or represent many as it is a diverse community of beautiful, intelligent people. Please don't allow voices like Cait to erase them.

Another reality show just for the money! Nothing is real or are truth about this! Just fake fake FAKE !! Encouraging by programming these sick people to go and destroy themselves more by making them Believe that this is normal and not deserved to be treated !! I think most of the five stars rating is by people who had the same disease and so delusional !!

I totally support the LGBT community. And I’m happy that Cait finally came into her own, so this isn’t low rated because I don’t support being trans. I rated this low because the show is pathetic. It’s boring as anything can possibly be. I cannot stress how boring this show is. I’m not sure what the point of the show is. It is like a purposeless documentary. We watch Cait make friends in her community and then just live her life… except nothing really happens to her. She organized trips for her friends and nothing really happened. I feel like they did this show just for the money. Maybe 1 episode in the whole season was really opening a discussion into LGBT community and the issues people face. Either than that, the show lacked in being anyway moving or educational. I expected so much more and just got to watch Cait have her makeup done each day…
