Please watch Stoker. It's a visual masterpiece that is criminally underrated. Park Chan-wook's best.

I sometimes wonder how movies with a ton of violence get R ratings.

I hear this is directed by a korean, the whole motion film was beautiful, clean lines photograph film is really good and etc. All those famous actors are easy to get their attention in this film. However the story needs more work and doesn't make sense. I can understand the whole story, its a very mild thriller and kinda cheesy. Just watch the whole movie, if are you fan of those A+ plus actors, they're okay!

Every scene in the film could be a photo. It is remarkably filmed with an ensemble of stars making this flick one of my new faves. Disturbing & thrilling- it will leave you on the edge of your seat! Highly underrated!

I cannot express how into this I was. The fantastic acting, terrific cinematography and minimalist filmmaking helps exponentially. I can't really describe it, but suffice it to say that the callous and rigid character adds so much to immense freakiness of it all; lighting, quick cuts and scenes in one shot are so admirable. People need to understand that it isn't just about a mysterious and sociopathic uncle interrupting a girl and her mother's lives. The acting, atmosphere, tone, set pieces, metaphors, symbolism, writing, how the script ties together, directing, cinematography, score, editing, sound design, lighting and more explore the thematic elements of jealousy, maturity, coming of age, growing sexuality, family dynamics, and loss of innocence. Even if you based it off of its surface value and basic plot, it would still be solid due to its flourishes of difference in plot and filmmaking. This is easily the best film of 2013, and one of my favorite films of all time. It's up there with Kubrick and Hitchcock (the latter, of course, since it was based off of Shadow of a Doubt). 9.7/10, masterful, two thumbs up, etc.
  • Impressive but kinda pretentious.

I watched it in my movie analysis class. It did be impressive, especially the plot and the techniques the director used. What else stroke me is the background sound. The director captured a lot of sounds and details, like breath, whistle, and the sound of the walking of a spider. However, it at times appears a little pretentious and make me feel weird and wanna laugh.
  • Disturbing and Beautiful at the Same Time

While the plot is chilling (not particularly scary, though), the visual details are exquisite, making this a very beautiful descent into homicidal pathos.
