Celeste (Rashida Jones) and Jesse (Andy Samberg) are high school sweethearts who married young and are now at a crossroads at the age of thirty. While Celeste is a success in business, Jesse is unemployed and adrift. Celeste thinks that if they divorce now they could still remain friends. Jesse passively accepts the decision even though he is still in love with her. As reality sets in, Celeste slowly and painfully realizes she has been cavalier about their relationship, but her timing with Jesse is less than fortuitous.

I love "500 Days of Summer"..."The F Word"... "When Harry Met Sally". But "Celeste and Jesse Forever" is by far NOT a comedy. I didn't laugh once and I was bored to tears. SUCH AN AWFUL SCRIPT. The concept of the storyline had potential but if there were jokes, I missed them. The characters were unlikable. It was full of old tropes & stereotypes. There was no depth at all. I'm seriously shocked that some reviewers said they got emotional over this... I just wanted it to end.

If you're dealing with a break up or you regret breaking up with your significant other....then this is the movie for you. Seriously, when you watch this movie, you are going to relate to Rashida Jones's character Celeste. I know I did. The cinematography in this movie is epic. Very funny and relate able. You won't regret watching this movie.

Caution: spoiler. This movies is classified as a romantic comedy. I actually found very little humor in it and most of it was in the preview clip. The acting is excellent but I personally did not like the script. It is filled with gratuitous foul language and unnecessary off color humor. I did not find the plot line at all believable. And the ending was heart breaking. Two people who are best friends and perfect for each other can't make it work? And when they do get their acts together they get dragged away by the plot line to what appeared to me to be bad matches. There is no forever in Celeste and Jesse Forever. If there is a point to the movie it is that the best of marriages require give and take and that is a great point. I just felt that the writers went to such great lengths to persuade us that this was a match made in heaven and then ripped it apart just to make a point. It was way too forced.
  • A twist on your typical "romance"

I gave this movie almost 5 stars because it definitely had some moments where it was just a tad bit slow. Overall though, I honestly have to say it was one of the most refreshing movies I saw last year. I love that it's not your typical cliche love story. The end even made me a little teary just because it was so believable and you feel for both characters. They love each other so much yet sometimes, loving each other is just not enough. Definitely a must see movie. If you get the chance I highly recommend it!

Very sophisticated and elegant. I love how realistic it is while it makes you smile by adding all these light elements.
