Description

Suicide Club’s maverick cult director Sion Sono returns with a disturbing, visually electrifying shocker about a sexually abused young woman and her hallucinatory reality. This surreal shockfest just gets more disturbing as it progresses…even before the amputations, bondage, imprisonment, and secret transexuality! Teenage Mitsuko is forced to watch her parents’ lovemaking through the peephole of a cello case. Soon she is involved in her father’s wicked sex acts, the death of her mother and suicide attempts…yet all of this is apparently a novel being penned by reclusive, wheelchair-bound author Taeko. Or is it?

Two years ago I tried to watch this film but could not get past the first 1/2 hour. I found it to be way too sick and disturbing. Now having tried it a second time, I can honestly say that I am so glad that I gave it another chance. The director is a mad genius who creates films unlike anything I have ever experienced or seen. This film is no exception. You have to have a strong stomach to watch certain parts of this film, but looking beyond that, the storyline is twisted, unique, sick, but uniquely told. It is extremely well put together with great attention to detail. I am so thoroughly impressed. If you can stomach the extreme abuse, violence, and sexual content and appreciate the storyline and genius behind this film, then you can really enjoy this movie.

If you're going to have a problem with a 12 year old girl being sexually, psychologically, and physically abused by her parents, then steer clear. If you can get past that, the film is undeniably a work of genius. I can respect it for that, but I didn't enjoy it, and you couldn't pay me enough money to see it again.

Wow! I can't even discribe how disturbing this is. As an American, I must say that I am not at all used to movies being this distubring, yet so well put together. I would classify this film as psychological horror. It'll mess with your mind for days! I highly recommend.
