I really enjoyed this movie because the character development was rich with emotion. We step into these women's lives and feel their pain, suffering and determination to provide for their children. While we know that smuggling is 'wrong', we cheer these women on because of their financial desperation. And, in spite of their cultural differences/animosities they forge a friendship that ultimately allows them to find a solution to right their wrongs. Definately worth the rent.

This is a brilliant, nuanced, and riveting poem that, on one level, focuses on motherhood. I sat through the entire credit roll after the film had ended, unable to tear myself away even from that faint echo of the masterpiece that I had just watched.

The acting was amazing and the story line was extremely well done. I can understand the reservation being upset about not getting permission to film on their land, but they should'nt be concerned with how it made their people look. What I took away from this movie was how the tribe cared for their people and how they worked together to uphold their law. I especially loved how the situation was handled with the teenage boy near the end. Wish our society dealt with similar issues the same way. Indian, white, black....doesn't matter. People do what they have to do to survive. This is one movie I'd definitely watch more than once.

this movie was filmed on my reservation, and Courtney Hunt didnt ask the trible councle to film the movie there. or give any credit to the Mohawk nation. and not all natives on the reservation make money smuggleing people over the river. This movie is up for an award i hope she gives credit if she wins.
