Summer Magic

Summer Magic, a forgotten gem from the Disney Studios, was not only one of Disney’s personal favorites, but also contains the delightful song “On the Front Porch” (1:17:48), written by the Sherman Brothers, and sung by Burl Ives, Hayley Mills, and rest of the fine cast. In his biography Robert Sherman said, “Of the hundreds of songs we wrote for Disney, I really love that one.” A remarkable comment considering that the “other songs” include the soundtracks for Mary Poppins and The Jungle Book, and classics such as “Its a Small World”, There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow”, and “Carousel of Color.” The movie is about a family forced by hard times to move from the city to the country in the early 1900's. Beautifully filmed and acted, it is a funny, charming and nostalgic look at a time that has now all but passed from living memory.

I love this movie. It's so sweet, and the music is wonderful. Why can't Disney still make movies like this today?

Wonderful movie... I love these older movies. They have so much more charm than most movies nowadays. I keep seeing that people want to buy it, well you can buy it here. It's better than nothing. Should be $5 though.

I remember watching this with my mom and dad and wishing we could live in a house like that. As always Hayley Mills does an amazing job. This movie is wonderful with amazing songs, and an all together great cast. I love it and recommend it to everyone

i loved this movie growing up, along with all the other hayley mills films...i really wish itunes carried moon-spinners though!

I saw this when it first came out, and it's so fun to see it again! This is just a nice family movie with some fun songs and a nice story. I also wish it was for sale, as I would buy it, too! Growing up, my sister and I always went to see all of Hayley Mills movies. Glad to see some of these old Disney movies on iTunes!

This movie was one of my childhood favorites! My cousin and I used to watch it late at night during the summer when it would play on the Disney channel, too bad they don't play it anymore. I wish it was for sale. Great family movie.
