Description

Dolores Huerta is among the most important, yet least known, activists in American history. An equal partner in co-founding the first farm workers unions with Cesar Chavez, her enormous contributions have gone largely unrecognized. Dolores tirelessly led the fight for racial and labor justice, becoming one of the most defiant feminists of the twentieth century.

I learned so much from this movie! It's packed with histroy (American politics, California's agriculture economy, the assisination of Bobby Kennedy, immigrant labor, convergence of various civil rights groups) that I had only ever heard of in passing. This movie has great character development, which is rare in an interview-based documentary. Everyone's complexity is on full display - no one is cast in a single light or earnestly praised without discussing flaws and compormises. This movie is excellent - deep history, full characters, and enough topics for eveyone.

This documentary keeps you engaged and interested the entire time. Dolores’ story is an important one. Recommend to anyone who wants to learn about her. It not only highlights the farmers unions, but feminism in the 70’s
