Description

The U.S. military faces a mental health crisis of historic proportions. Thank You for Your Service takes aim at our superficial understanding of war trauma and the failed policies that result. Director Tom Donahue interweaves the stories of four struggling Iraq War veterans with candid interviews of top military and civilian leaders. Observing the systemic neglect, the film argues for significant internal change and offers a roadmap of hope. Interviews include Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Admiral Mike Mullen, Generals David Petraeus and Loree Sutton, Nicholas Kristof, Dexter Filkins, Senator Patty Murray, Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson.

Too many of us are ignorant to the needs of our veterans. The resources and mindsets have to shift to allow healing to come. More than just gratitude is needed from every American, on this we should unite! It's not about politics to me, but humanity.
  • Powerful and thought provoking - whether or not you served in the military.

I had the honor of hosting a screening of this documentary in Seattle. I believe we all have an obligation to help our active duty members, as well as veterans who have separated and yet still struggle with mental health issues. This film doesn't just highlight the problem, it offers a solution. The mental health crisis in this nation affects us all. Thank you Tom and Ilan for your incredible efforts in helping those who deserve our support.

A documentary about why we should and how to bring our vets back home from conflict with a sound mind and body. Having lost my veteran father to suicide it explains a lot.

This film is so inspiring and insightful. It lays bare the systemic issues that have dogged the military from one war to the next but also offers hope and rock solid solutions that all of us can step up and take part in to be part of the positive change and support for our military.

This should be required viewing for anyone living in the United States. We have to start recognizing the true costs of war-no one wins, everyone loses. Take care of our veterans!
