Go into bold new territory with television's favorite squad of detectives! Set in the Los Angeles Police Department, Major Crimes picks up where successful series The Closer leaves off, centering on what it takes to secure an airtight conviction, and exploring how the police and prosecutors work together to build a solid case that results in a suspect confessing, signing a plea agreement or being found guilty in a court of law. With Academy Award® and Emmy® nominee Mary McDonnell as Captain Sharon Raydor, the series also stars The Closer’s G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison, Michael Paul Chan, Raymond Cruz and Phillip P. Keene, along with Kearran Giovanni and Graham Patrick Martin, with The Closer veterans Jon Tenney and Robert Gossett also appearing. With the same stellar producing team in place, Major Crimes delivers the same high caliber of action and drama as the hit series it follows.

  • Great Show!

    By Englibrit
Taking over from The Closer was a smooth transition, especially with the cast. However, the show could be better if the storyline had less personal content time spent on Rusty's problems (which could still be condensed to show Sharon's compassionate side!) and more time spent on the theme - 'Major Crimes' - the solving of the crimes, the teams work and different involvement in the case, and maybe just a little more 'drama' in the storyline. The human and comedic side of Sharon's departmental team is great but could be expanded too! I get the impression that the shows writers are struggling to come up with good ideas for each episode and should be wary of all the new shows coming out that could eventually put an end to this otherwise great show!
  • Simply the Best

This show is simply the best around. It's smart, funny, and incredibly interesting. Season One focuses more on Rusty Beck and telling his story of where he comes from, also the blending of Sharon as the head officer in the division. Fantastic. Better than The Closer ever was.
  • Not The Closer!!

I had hopes for Major Crimes. Unfortunately my hopes have been crushed. I knew Captain Rayder would not be the some, but a lot of the energy of the show left with Kyra Sedgewick. I continue to love Prevenza and Flynn! I wish the rest of the series (only 10 shows) will grow on me. Update: I've continued to watch, and while Raydor isn't my favorite character, I no longer hate her. Actually this is the first time I've been able to watch Mary McDonnel for any length of time. I'll keep watching and, who knows, I might come to like Major Crimes almost as much as The Closer.

Proenza is my Columbo..... so Happy... Rusty story so aweet... well done.... miss Brenda but Kevin will do her good :-)

  • A Worthy Successor

Major Crimes has really done a brilliant job of continuing the style of The Closer while growing it beyond the character of Brenda and her strengths to revolve around Sharon as the lead character. It is great to see the original cast sticking with the show and one would hope that Brenda can be coerced back on occasion for a sort of crossover / reunion episode. With Fritz still there and her working "just around the corner somewhere" it seems logical for her to be seen every once in a while. I was concerned after the first few episodes that the new "deal making" format might get stale but they've really not let that happen. Story lines have remained strong and the characters and acting are top notch as ever. I'm sad to see the first season end. Can't wait for the second.
  • Wonderful replacement!

The relationship with Rusty has saved Sharon's character. She was only allowed to be one-dimensional in the Closer. I think it would be a challenge to develop the character with this great ensemble cast, but this incredibly accomplished actress has done just that!
