  • HD....No

This is another case of studios claiming HD which is far from the truth. It might look good on a small phone but it looks blurry on a 55 inch TV.This might be caused by blowing up the picture to fit a standard 16:9 TV screen.Great movie ruined by idiots that have no idea why directors film is in the ratio they intended the film to be viewed in.Sorry Danny Kaye but greed overruled your film. One star...fix this iTunes or stop selling it send a message to the distribution studios.
  • More studio cutting here.

The film itself is one of Danny Kaye’s best and the colors are vibrant (mostly due to the Technicolor process used in filming) This process used three negatives with excellent color retention compared to other less expensive processes, but, in my opinion the results are clearly evident on the screen. My biggest gripe about this version being offered on ITunes is that the Vistavision wide screen has been blown up with the sides cut off to fit a 16 x 9 tv set with no letterbox bars. Apparently the studio thinks audiences don’t see the difference. I do! And I want to see films as their maker’s intended and not “hacked” versions that are made by some studio marketer that thinks they know better then the film makers. ITunes should be offering both the correct and hacked versions to their customers with a little switch like the ipad has. Itunes should also show the aspect ratio being offered and not just say “widescreen” which is a meaningless term.

This film is an absolute classic! It is perfection, my favourite movie. It's absolutely hilarious, with incredible writing! The lyrics, music and soundtrack is absolutely genius. Lyrics that are just perfectly written. Danny Kaye is one of the best comedians our earth has produced. He brought so much joy, sweetness and laughter to the world. He's such an astounding person! I'm so grateful my mother raised me on movies like these. This was always my favourite, I feel so loved when I see this film. Tears of joy.

This is my all-time favorite movie. It beats all of today's best sellers. The first time I saw this movie, I fell in love with the characters and the talented actors playing them. Any Danny Kaye movie is a favorite of mine, but this is at the top of my list. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good comical parody of the medieval period!

This is a personal favorite. Danny Kaye, a master of both verbal and physical comedy is at his peak. This would be a perfect movie except for the climactic storming of the castle by dwarves....seriously...dwarves. Aside from that it is full of great sight gags and two wordplay bits that are true classics.

I absolutely LOVE this movie, but I especially like when he is imitating different languages for one of the guards. It's very, very funny.

Though iTunes is charging way too much, this movie is fun for the whole family and a must have, whether purchased here or elsewhere. A bit corny at times but filled with good songs, dancing, tongue twisting dialog and humor, humor, humor - and not a single bad word. Witty, charming and delightful, it exemplifies the days that Hollywood could make a quality picture where the good guys win, though not without some hilarious suspense, and all ages, tots to adults, are smiling till the very end.. Absolutely and without question, five stars.

Haha this is a good movie, and what's amazing is that some of the scenes aren't cut! They just keep rolling without making mistakes! Danny K is one of my favourite classic actors, he really does a good job!
