This film was produced by Val Lewton who produced some of the most memorable horror films in film history. Beginning with Cat People his career was made by creating powerful, atmospheric movies which challenged the mind as well as being shudderingly scary. This movie fills in a gap in his portfolio and it is very good. Great Halloween fare!

This first rate B movie is back after being pulled from distriution for 50 years after a lawsuit. Campy moody psychological horror film. The film was made because, get this, the studio had spent a bundle on the ship set so they tasked a writer to dream up a script to use a ship. Problem was the script was too close to another concept that had been submitted. So, the original writers sued for $25,000. 50 years later, we get to see the film. What fun. Where's the popcorn?
