After an earthquake hit Chinatown in the Season 2 finale, Season 3 finds Nicky, her family, and her community trying to rebuild. Nicky, still reeling from her breakup and the shocking death of Zhilan, juggles a new job while fighting a growing crimewave. Mei-Li struggles to keep Harmony Dumplings afloat; while Jin helps the community. Althea finds herself jobless, living in the cramped Shen house while Dennis helps make ends meet. Ryan adjusts to life with boyfriend Seb while working as an ER resident; and Evan starts a new legal venture. But just as Nicky and the Shens are finding their footing, Nicky is thrown on her heels by a mysterious vigilante, Bo—and the return of a woman who appears to be her deceased shifu, Pei-Ling.
