Interesting biography of Walt Disney. Unfortunately the source material is not always great. Period film is often grainy and scratched. They could have cleaned things up a bit for this important show. Also felt the interviews were somewhat lacking in content. Still, I bought a season pass in ITunes and I’m looking forward to part 2. (whenever that is available for download.)
  • A very compelling portrait of the real man behind the name.

Just finished watching all 4 hours of this on PBS. A thorough, thoughtful, balanced look at the life of Walt Disney. Like every visionary, Walt Disney was more layered than the persona the media has presented and this documentary does a wonderful job of examining his life and work through interviews with many who knew and worked with him, and the usual American Experience cadre of "experts", academics, and historians. A big kudos to the Walt Disney Company and the Disney families for cooperating and allowing access to their archives, films, etc, without requiring editorial oversight. The result is a riveting and important visual historical document for the world.
