Description

LOL? It means "laughing out loud" in text language. It is also the name that Lola's friends have given her. However, when it is time to go back to school after summer break, Lola doesn't feel much like laughing. Arthur, her boyfriend, provokes her by telling her that he cheated on her over the summer. And her gang of pals is very gifted at complicating matters. Just like her mother, Anne, with whom life has become impossible, and not only because she has no idea what LOL means. That her parents have divorced is one thing, but that Anne treats her teenage daughter like a child, by lying to her about basic things - like the fact that she is still seeing her ex-partner on the sly, or that a cop is interested in her - is another. As for Anne, she wonders what on earth has happened to her sweet little daughter. From fusion to confusion, mother-daughter relationships simmer with love and plenty of LOL.

so don't. this film, unlike its awful American counterpart, is witty, real, and INTELLIGENT. the dialogue-- pay attention!-- is charming and has a lot of comedic subtlety. yes, it's about a girl in high school. but I find it ignorant and shallow to cast it off as a dumb film over its thematic, which most people judge instantly. Sophie Marceau is brilliant. the actress that plays Lola and those that play her best friends are so visceral, unlike any "teenage" film actors i've ever seen. i love this movie, and the fake, plastic-shiny version Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore concocted doesn't come close to the charm and quality of the original LOL.

This French movie I really don't like because I don't speak French so I took 2 stars away from it. I took 2 more stars away because of the actors. For the English version I give it 5 stars because the actors speak English and they are good actors. I don't mean to be mean to the actors who stared in the French version it's just that I don't really know a lot about French actors and if maybe if I learned more about them then maybe I would think they are great actors! In the end I give this movie 3 stars because I watched the English version and it was pretty awesome! I still recommend this movie, for people who don't speak French or for people who like reading the subtitles!

I should have listened to "Art of reading and film," but she just had to give Young Adult 5 stars, and I doubted her thoroughly. This was painfully bland with no characters but simply interchangeable place holders for teenage hormones and the objects of their affection. The writing is only clever by reality TV standards, which is to say, not at all, unless you're not old enough to drink, drive, vote, or feel okay wearing clothes different from those of the majority. Sophie Marceau is a complete babe though, so much so I found myself wishing I'd participated in a student-exchange program when I was younger. To her, I say, you're better than this.

This is the 21st century version of "la Boum 1&2" (with Sophie Marceau as the teenager) from the eighties!!! When I saw first "la Boum" I was young but it described very well my years of middle school and high school. Seeing, years later Sophie Marceau as the mother this time, was like a continuity of La Boum and depicted very well that time has changed and teenagers too but some problems and questions are always in teenager's mind.. It is a very nice and true view on the new generation of teenagers... And it is not a bad movie and not only because Americans made a remake out of it with the same title "LOL" Judge by yourself and watch it!!!
