Description

Tom Cruise delivers a riveting and unforgettable portrayal of Vietnam veteran Ron Kovic in Oliver Stone's Academy Award®-winning masterpiece. Based on a true story, the acclaimed film follows the young Kovic from a zealous teen who eagerly volunteers for the Vietnam War, to an embittered veteran paralyzed from the mid-chest down. Deeply in love with his country, Kovic returned to an environment vastly different from the one he left, and struggled before emerging as a brave new voice for the disenchanted.

No one is making movies like that, even Tom Cruise stoped making good movies . Real picturowe of ypung people turn to wrong war . I see vets in this movie present as a idelaistic people who was broken and didnt know how to come back to normal life. Great picture of people dealing with pain, trying to forgive and still deeply love their country

A film that you cannot forget. Outstanding performances by Tom Cruise and the entire cast. I have lived my entire life in Massapequa Park. Ron Kovic was raised in Massapequa, attended my high school, and fought bravely in a very unpopular war. His anti war activism was nothing less than heroic. This film captures his spirit, determination, and courage. A film that is nothing less than phenomenal.

I really like this movie, but sometimes I just think Tom Cruise's acting gets a little awkward. He really gets into it, but it gets sort of weird. In the confrontation scene between himself and his mom, he pulls out those small tubes he uses to pee and personally I find it awkward. Other than that, it's an emotional film that I'll watch again and again.

One of Tom Cruises worst films ever. Found this movie boring. A real snooze fest. Not sure which would be more painful, watching this movie or having root canal.

Born on the Fourth of July is Oliver Stone's best work. Although I really like Platoon as well, Born on the Fourth of July is emotionally complex on so many levels. I recently watched it again after many years, and I was reminded of why it took me so long. One really must be in the appropriate mood to watch such a movie. For me at least, it is a very emotionally draining movie. And this is also Tom Cruise's best acting, and he should have won the Oscar. I also liked his work in Taps and Collateral, but I'm not sure he will ever be able to match his performance in Born on the Fourth of July. A must see.

This movie shows us how it fells to believe in something so hard and have everyone else look dow on what you fell, that is what the movie shows us as Stone takes the time to show us how Cruise went to fight a war and to come back home and have everone turned aginst him, and that is the truth about the Viatnam war.

This movie is pretty good. It shows how easily it is for a soldier to become disillusioned when he leaves for war with a romantic view of what he is doing. It does go into a large political rant, so the only reason i give it a third star is because of the cripple fight.

He won the Oscar for Best Director for this movie and it shows. It consistently hits all of the right notes at the right times. Excellent execution in all areas of directing, acting, screenplay, and cinematography.

If you're gonna have someone on a soapbox let it be Oliver Stone...I mean cinematically. Also, it's always a relief to see Tom Cruise not celebrating "Tom Cruise" and simply performing his craft to perfection.
