The Shootist

The most touching and emotional of John Wayne's films. It emphasizes the fact that Mr. Wayne was a hero on and off the screen. He was able to portray a character whose fate he shared with honesty and dignity. He was not perfect in life but his characters stood for what is important in life: freedom, family, and faith. It is why his films endure. The Shootist is an excellent example.

The end of an era, John Wayne one of America's greatest heroes delivered his last great character. Jimmy Stewart, Ronny Howard and Harry Morgan also delivered great performances. John Wayne's characters had a special charm but more importantly his characters didn't have to act tough, his characters could be loving and caring to the needs of women and children and when it came to fights it would end well for him. Except for this film, his characters were killed off as one head gunfighter, the Duke's career was long, and it was great. Watch this, it's great

John Wayne will be forever the "tough" man. One of the best actors to ever make a movie!

"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I expect the same from them." These are words to live by. When God created John Wayne the angels sang and did they sing. When the Duke died the angels wept and man lost the last backbone it will ever have. There is only one John Wayne. The rest are cheap imitations.

This was the last movie that John Wayne made in his long and amazing career. It is a great movie to wrap uo his career. Many people didnt realize that he had cancer while filming. In this film he used many of the actors that he used early in his career. In many ways it is how you woyld want John waynes career and life to end.

This film is very real and personal. A Great all around movie with an amazing cast, soundtrack and story..something lacking these days(and take it from me, I'm 22). It's also very cool to see how the world was changing around the turn of the 18th century into the 19th.

I'm a big John Wayne fan, and each time I see "The Shootist", deep down, I feel like I want to cry because even as his character in the film was dying, in real life, Duke was dying of cancer. This movie is, without a doubt, one of the most defining moments in Duke's long film career! And seeing him cast with his "Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" co-star Jimmy Stewart and his "Blood Alley" co-star Lauren Bacall is reason enough for any John Wayne fan out there to buy it here on iTunes! Long live the Duke!

I'm not a big westerns guy, but i caught this on tv once and it was great. Both the acting and the story were superb.

It was a star-studded cast that provided for an excellent movie to see John Wayne go out on. To consider what he must have gone through while filming this movie proves that John Wayne really is really has a lot of "true grit". Definitely a great movie to go out on.

What a classic Western for an aging John Wayne to star in!  It was very touching to see a powerful man with a legend, and a good heart, come to terms with his own mortality, along with that he only has strangers in his life to rely upon.  This Western is very much worth adding to your iTunes collection.
