I'm so glad I didn't listen to some of the reviews here and rented this film to watch on a cross-country flight today. DeNiro and Hathaway are great, of course. This is a flim about how young people see aging, stereotypes about aging, respecting what elders have to offer the world, about loss and grief, about letting one's guard down and learning to really and get to know see others, about slowing down a little, about powerful working mothers, and more. If you need heavy action, or don't like seeing human friendship and connection protrayed on screen, then this may not be your film, but if you like films about the human condition, about caring and connection - I think you'll like this one quite a lot!

I absolutely love this movie way too much! I love how they role to be a good role model to each other and help out. I never felt this was a slow movie. Lots of positive message. I can watch many times I want to. I own it. Every song was right on scenes.

Really enjoyed this movie about life relationships and moving forward. Honoring women doing and being their best and reminding us that men need to be gentlemen not boys.

  • Not a Romance or Comedy, a Real Drama

It is quite rare to find a actual movie that is actually a Drama without being a Comedy, Romance, Action, or SciFi. But "The Intern" is one of those rare movies that can't be classified into any category beyond a Drama. In this case, it's a good thing. Anne Hathaway (Jules) is running her own company and is seeking interns to help as her company grow. She is also considering changes by splitting the leadership of the company to take it to the next level. Robert DeNiro (Ben) is a individual looking to get back into the workforce after his prior position became irrelevant with technology changes. "Ben" is assigned to work as "Jules" assistant and "Jules" is known for being very particular and difficult to work with. She's also distracted by considering the changes at the company and will this intern work out. Things happen and "Ben" is stuck at a crossroads of sharing his opinion and being a worker bee. The movie takes a few turns but really has a heart felt ending that says it all. "Tech savy and the newest methods don't actually change how good business operates. The experience in the old operations can help grow organizations by applying the good business operations to tech's new methods, but you have to be open to it.
